INTRODUCTION

One of the disciplines that studies extraordinary human capabilities is parapsychology, or psi, which examines anomalous human energy transfer and information processing. While the history of western parapsychology has been well documented, that of Russia is not so well known. This Module takes a look at Russian psychology's attitude to the study of parapsychology, OBEs and remote viewing, its history, and contemporary trends, and whether an international information  gap existed between America and Russia?

 GOALS

According to Russian psychologists Dubrov and Pushkin, contemporary civilization, with its information explosion, presents humankind with ever-increasing demands, and ordinary human capabilities are no longer sufficient in the face of the expanding rate of change in work and life.

Is this so? And how did these ideas influence the “psi gap” between Russia and America?

INSTRUCTOR

Dr. Angela Thompson Smith studied Soviet Parapsychology at the graduate level at Saybrook University as well as visiting Moscow, Russia in the early 1990s, and visiting with researchers and institutions there, gaining an understanding of both historic and modern developments.
